With Ontario’s energy landscape evolving quickly, local distribution companies (LDCs) need to move equally fast to keep up.
Recognizing this shift, two like-minded LDCs—Brantford Power Inc. and Energy+ Inc—wanted to explore merging their businesses to become stronger and to better serve their customers and communities. Our advisors helped evaluate benefits and risks while preparing the business case for a potential merger, allowing both businesses to determine whether this move would be strategic for them respectively, as well as together.
The merger received approval from the Ontario Energy Board in March 2022 and GrandBridge Energy Inc. was legally formed on May 2, 2022. The organization now serves over 100,000 households and businesses in the City of Brantford, the City of Cambridge, the County of Brant, and the Township of North Dumfries. The merger has provided the opportunity for both businesses to explore innovative solutions, while offering customers the same high standards of service they’re accustomed to.
Today, GrandBridge Energy offers customers a more cost-effective service by leveraging resources and best practices from both companies while keeping up with the needs of its community and the rapidly evolving energy industry.
