The Doane Grant Thornton Foundation is integral to one of our Firm's strategic goals, to magnify the impact on the communities where our colleagues and clients live and work. We believe it’s our responsibility as good neighbours to show care for our fellow community members, and we know that building stronger Canadian communities benefits everyone.
In 2024, the Foundation provided financial support to more than 370 charities across Canada. Our local Greater Purpose Committees support causes such as mental health support, food insecurity, and animals. Each organization chosen has local impact, and across the country we’re united in our commitment to our community work. Learn more about our local commitments:

The strength of a community is in its people. Our ability to provide people with the resources they need—from education to health to recreation—is indicative of how resilient our communities are. However, not everyone needs the same level or type of support.

With the pressures of increased cost-of-living in the city more and more members of the community find themselves challenged to regularly put food on the table. Estimates from 2022 indicate that one-in-five people in the city could be classified as “food insecure”.
It started with an email from a colleague who shared a personal story with her business unit about her son for Autism Awareness Month, and soon this story galvanized people across the Firm. Colleagues shared personal stories, family experiences, and a conversation began around continuing to foster an environment of belonging.
