Doane Grant Thornton Foundation deepens commitment to A Dollar A Day Foundation with $1.5 million donation

As Canada marked World Mental Health Day, Doane Grant Thornton LLP’s charitable foundation, Doane Grant Thornton Foundation, is renewing its commitment to A Dollar A Day Foundation with a $1.5 million gift over three years. The continued relationship will support A Dollar A Day’s work funding frontline mental health and addictions services in every province and territory across Canada.

This investment comes at a time when the need for accessible mental health and addictions care is more important than ever. In Canada, 1 in 2 people will have—or have had—a mental illness by the time they reach the age of 40 and only 1 in 5 Canadian children who need mental health services will receive them. A Dollar A Day connects funding with communities where support is needed most, helping grassroots organizations deliver vital services to people facing mental health and substance use challenges.

Doane Grant Thornton Foundation’s initial gift of $366,000 in 2024 helped A Dollar A Day expand its operations and double the impact of its signature Change Makers Awards, while its subsequent donations of $500,000 in both 2025 and 2026 enabled A Dollar A Day to fund additional organizations across Canada. The relationship with Doane Grant Thornton Foundation builds on a shared commitment to ensuring that funding reaches organizations providing meaningful, on-the-ground support to those in need.

“Accessible mental health and addictions supports play a vital role in building stronger communities. Our renewed commitment reflects our confidence in A Dollar A Day Foundation and the important work they are leading across Canada,” shared Hugh Erickson, Chair of the Doane Grant Thornton Foundation.

“We’re thrilled to continue our relationship with Doane Grant Thornton through their Foundation. Their support has been transformative, allowing us to reach thousands more people in need from coast to coast to coast. They are on the ground in over 80 communities across Canada, and they truly care about helping people in each of those communities,” shares Brendan Paddick, Chair and Co-founder of A Dollar A Day. “This support will not only change lives; it will save lives.”
