As National Tax Leader and a practicing domestic tax partner, I provide tax services to owner-managed businesses and individuals to ensure they meet their strategic financial and personal objectives. I specialize in both corporate and personal tax, with a focus on complex tax analysis, corporate reorganizations, estate planning, corporate tax planning and compliance, financial analysis, and forecasting. I help clients navigate full business lifecycles from start-up to turnaround phases. My expertise extends to the financial aspects of family, marriage, and succession planning. Through working on negotiations and settlements, I’ve honed my skills in managing sensitive and complex financial matters.
My passion for working with Indigenous clients and communities on complex tax structures has grown over the years. Bringing my professional knowledge forward to assist with reconciliation is important to me as it makes our country and the economy stronger. I frequently speak on Indigenous tax issues at national and regional conferences and seminars. I have co-authored papers on Indigenous taxation, which were presented at the Canadian Tax Foundation’s 2022 and 2024 BC Tax Conferences.
Since entering public practice in 1993, I’ve completed extensive professional training, including the Canadian Tax Foundation’s tax and estate planning for owner-managers, and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants’ corporate reorganization course, advanced tax issues for owner-managed businesses, and all three parts of the in-depth tax program.
Giving back to my community is a core value to me. I’ve served on the boards of the Cowichan Chamber of Commerce—where I currently contribute to the policy advisory committee, the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation, and the BC Chamber of Commerce. I’ve also held roles such as Finance Chair for the Queen of Angels School Council, group leader for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Canada’s in-depth tax course, and lecturer for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.
