Mark Wentzell

Mark is the leader of the corporate recovery and reorganization practice (R&R) in British Columbia and is responsible for delivery of all R&R services in British Columbia. Mark has been involved in various types of insolvency engagements during his career from small single entity engagements to large complex engagements, in various industries and jurisdictions. Mark provides services to lenders (institutional lenders, chartered banks and private), troubled companies, regulatory bodies and governments institutions. Mark has been involved over his career in most of the industries and services in British Columbia.

Mark has had several articles published in relation to restructuring topics and regularly presents on topical issues at insolvency conferences.

Mark has over 25 years of professional service, with the last 19 years exclusively in recovery and restructuring. Mark began his recovery and restructuring experience overseas, practicing in various jurisdictions and qualifying as a restructuring professional in the UK. He returned to Canada in 2003 after 7 years overseas and became a qualified Canadian insolvency practitioner in 2004. He has been the Vancouver practice unit leader since 2006.

Mark has broad industry experience, originally focusing on financial services, asset tracing and recovery and litigation support. More recently, his industry focus has been in oil and gas, mining, retail, real estate and construction, gaming, agriculture, hotels and hospitality, transportation logistics and distribution and regulatory matters.

Mark is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a Licensed Insolvency Trustee, a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals (CAIRP), has an MBA and law degree from Dalhousie University, is a qualified United Kingdom Insolvency Professional and is a past member of the Nova Scotia Barristers Society. He is also a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada, the Turnaround Management Association and the Risk Management Association. He has volunteered extensively over the last number of years, both in his community and in various capacities for CAIRP, and other professional bodies.
