Grace Caputo

I provide specialty tax advice to both Canadian and international clients on several aspects of Canadian indirect tax. Through a deep understanding of each specific client situation and the transactions at hand, I can help organizations through complex indirect tax matters—providing tailored solutions based on their needs and objectives. I like to talk through the circumstances, limitations, opportunities, and options with clients to reach the best solution for the organization while achieving compliance and reducing risks.

After developing my specialty at a boutique sales tax firm, I made the life-changing decision to join Doane Grant Thornton in 2016, where I discovered a culture of leadership and felt like I could truly grow and engage as a professional. Earlier in my career, I gained experience toward my CPA designation at another major firm before transitioning to the parent company of a large group of franchise companies.

I’ve presented on Canadian sales tax at several conferences and to various industry groups, and I’m proud to have numerous articles published. I’ve also co-authored a technical paper for the 2018 CPA Canada GST/HST Symposium.

I love coaching my talented colleagues as they grow and pursue their own career goals. I’m also grateful to be a part of community initiatives, often with social and fundraising support and recently joined the board and finance committee of a local charity committed to reducing the harm caused by gender-based violence. My partner and I also value being active parents to our two boys and involved neighbours.
