About the client

McMillan-McGee Corp (Mc²) is a global leader in providing electromagnetic systems and engineering services to thermal remediation and energy projects around the world. Specifically, they specialize in advanced solutions for cleaning contaminated soil and groundwater. The company has operated since 1991 with headquarters in Calgary, as well as locations in the U.S., Europe, China, and Brazil.

Mc² was seeking to spur future growth by securing a partner that aligned with the company’s goals of being a leader in pollution remediation solutions, while also allowing the owners to retain an equity stake in the company. Our M&A team was brought in at the start to guide them through the entire divestiture process. We went to market and negotiated with a few different parties, which ultimately resulted in partnering with GEF Capital Partners, a company that invests in high-growth, profitable businesses that address the challenges of climate change and pollution.

The deal successfully closed and the original owners of Mc² were able to roll equity, allowing them to continue to grow the company with a financial partner dedicated to their values of making a positive impact on the environment.
